MULLINS PATHOLOGY CERTIFIED BY:
National Glycohemoglobin Standardization Program |
Mullins Pathology laboratories is proud to announce, that effective 12/1/2000, it has become one of less than 10 laboratories nationwide, to receive Certification by the National Glycohem oglobin Standardization Program This national certification program is administered by the University of Missouri School of Medicine in Columbia, Missouri. It recognizes a laboratory’s ability to produce extremely accurate and reproducible results in comparison with a nationally accepted primary reference method. The actual coefficient of variation, (CV) for specimens run in our lab was 2%, far below the NGSP
certification target limit of 5%. This extremely low CV means that you are
assured of the highest quality results for your hemoglobin A1C testing.
Mullins Laboratories uses Bio-Rad Corporations Variant II HPLC technology, the accepted Gold Standard, for the determination of hemoglobin A1C. Our combination of unsurpassed instrumentation and dedicated, quality conscious medical technologists produces a hemoglobin A1C result that you and your physician can depend on, month after month. In addition to the hemoglobin A1C result, your report contains a computer calculated average daily glucose estimate. This glucose estimate is derived from a linear regression algorithm that was originally published by Dr. M.D. Nathan in the New England Journal of Medicine. This algorithm examines the hemoglobin A1C value and calculates the average blood glucose, which would produce that result. This additional value is added to assist you and your physician in better evaluating your clinical status. It is provided as a free service to help insure a better quality of care for our diabetic patients.
